Banned Books Week Art Projects

Wednesday, September 21, 2022, All Day Event

Drop in to create your own Banned Books Week-themed square. We'll provide a canvas square, paints, and collage materials for you to create a masterpiece inspired by the Freedom to Read and banned books. Artist Barbara Odil will be assisting on Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon, and Eddie Whitlock will be assisting artists from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The room also will be open from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Gift cards of $100, $50 and $25 will be awarded to the artists whose designs best depict the theme of Banned Books and the Freedom to Read. Prizes will be awarded in both the teen and adult categories. The winners will be announced at the gallery show and reception on Sunday, September 25. This event is sponsored by a grant from the Freedom to Read Foundation with additional support from Friends of Athens-Clarke County Library.
