Former Athens Mayor/CEO Gwen O'Looney shares her travel tips at Athens-Clarke County Library on May 24, 2017. Gwen tells you how to individualize your trip for the culture and assets of the countries you choose. What to take, how to travel, where to stay and how to make sure you have some adventures along the way. Trail Designer Dr Walter Cook talks about some of his favorite hiking trails in Georgia at the Athens-Clarke County Library, Athens Georgia, on February 25, 2016.

In Dr Cook's own words: "I was born June 26, 1931, near Warren, Ohio. BS in Forestry, Michigan Tech, 1959. MS and PhD, Forest Aesthetics, SUNY College of Forestry at Syracuse University, 1969, 1971. Married to Carol, five children, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Moved to Athens, 1971. Taught at UGA, retired 1996. Taught Forest Engineering (surveying), Forest Recreation, Forest Park Design, Aesthetic Silviculture, Introduction to Forestry, Wilderness Management. Since retirement, I have been designing trails (some for pay) in Georgia and South Carolina. Co-founder of Sandy Creek Nature Center, 1973; Board member for 32 years. On original Board of Oconee River Land Trust, and currently active, doing mostly field work. Member, Benton MacKaye Trail Association, 3 mile section maintainer for 17 years. Member, Foothills Trail Conference. Since 1973, designed over 70 foot trails, and helped build some, including the 4 mile Cook's Trail. Currently maintaining trails at the Botanical Garden. Enjoying life."
