We laughed. We cried. We talked. It was a huge success. Muriel Pritchett's original play about Bertie, a woman who came to live with her daughter's family after her stroke, was spot-on in identifying issues that can arise with any family in that situation. Even though the play was presented "reader's theater style" the actors managed convincing portrayals of the characters with lines delivered in perfect timing. It was truly funny, but the serious issues underlying the humor escaped no one. The panelists who followed the play, led expertly by Dr. Ann Glass, associate director of the Institute of Gerontology at the University of Georgia, were eloquent and honest in sharing their own care-giving experiences.
