Reflecting, Sharing, Learning

A talk by Mary Walker from the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum on January 24, 2015 at the Athens-Clarke County Library in Athens, Georgia. Ms Walker recounts the history and current status of the museum, and talks about some antique quilts she brought with her. Afterwards, some quilts brought in by the public are evaluated by members of the Cotton Patch Quilters guild.

Quilts are passed down from generation to generation like the treasured keepsakes they are. In the stitching we can see the handiwork of our ancestors, and imagine them sitting by a window working on piecing together something to keep their children and grandchildren warm for a century or more.
