Have you ever thought about the history behind what brought your favorite Athens dish to the table? If not, here's the opportunity to learn about Athens foodways.

The program features Jordan Shoemaker and covers Athens' and surrounding areas' culinary habits and their almost invisible impact on our lives. Culinary habits are considered "intangible culture" because they cannot be touched or interacted with like other physical monuments of culture.

It can be harder to preserve these forms of our culture. Shoemaker explores the ways in which the preservation field is trying to maintain this culinary heritage.

Jordan Shoemaker is a student in the Master of Historic Preservation program at the University of Georgia and serves as a Preservation Intern for the North East Georgia Regional Commission.
