The Culture and Legacy of Eastern-European Emigration to America 1880-1930

Saturday, April 30, 2022, 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Multipurpose Room B

Join the Heritage Room and the Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society in the exploration and discussion of Eastern European Emigration to the United States.

Bonnie Burke, a representative of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society (via ZOOM) will introduce a video The Extraordinary Journey discussing emigration from Eastern Europe from 1880 - 1930. Although this video is focused on slavs and other Eastern Europeans who moved into Northeastern Pennsylvania, the food, culture and reasons for leaving Eastern Europe apply to many. These traditions continue today among Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, and Carpatho-Rusyn peoples. This program should be of interest to people working on Eastern European ancestry.

We will have both in-person and Zoom attendees, registration will be required for Zoom attendees. Event is free.
